National Museum of Australia

An engaging and interactive website for the National Museum Australia showcasing the collection and programs to a diverse global audience.

A complete redesign and rebuild

The NMA website had a dated and cluttered appearance before they turned to Ladoo for a complete redesign and rebuild.

The project started with an extensive consultation and design phase to help us collectively find the appropriate intersection between business and user needs. We facilitated a series of workshops to help understand musers as well as develop a clear understanding of direction and requirements.

Bringing the product vision to life

A content-first approach saw the project adopt a modular framework that allows for pages to be assembled with different design modules to best suit the content needs of each section and page. With a wide array of visual artifacts across the museum, the design served to create a canvas to display the vast riches available across NMA.

Once the design framework was established the responsive site was built and implemented in Squiz Matrix to allow for content owners to control all aspects of the site. As part of the implementation phase, a scripted content migration process was also undertaken in order to bring across valuable content with a minimum of fuss.

The process saw the Ladoo team engage regularly with the NMA team through a series of review workshops to ensure a shared understanding of the needs, approach, design and progress, as their vision came to life.
