Nexus Primary Health

The Nexus story began over forty years ago with a small local community health service employing a physiotherapist and district nurse. Today Nexus is an integrated primary health service with over 250 employees and now in four locations

Developing a shared understanding

With Nexus Primary Health now serving the growing population in Wallan, Kinglake , Seymour and Broadford, and an expanded service offering, it was an important to upgrade a dated web presence.

The project started with a comprehensive discovery phase which started with the Ladoo and Nexus teams developing a shared understanding by considering goals, needs and the current state of the organisation

Workshops, audits and card sorting

A series of team workshops were held in order to develop a shared understanding of the various audiences Nexus serves and their varying needs. User stories were developed to help articulate these needs.

A detailed audit was undertaken of the services provided to ensure that all were covered with allowance for particular content needs.

Card sorting was conducted to help define the overall information architecture including filter groupings for the substantial list of services.

Establishing the visual design

The design phase started with wireframes to establish the core modules and templates with colour, imagery and icons added to provide further meaning, visual interest and hierarchy.

Content drawers and overlays were added to ensure users could quickly access key location and contact information as well as navigate the service offering in an efficient manner.

Fit for purpose design templates

The detailed design phase saw a range of specific templates designed for the different content needs of the different areas.

As the designs evolved, the various modules and components were streamlined and rationalised to allow for re-use across the site.

On the development side of things, a brand-new Matrix site was built from the ground up to provide full control to content providers to maintain different sections of the responsive site.
